Proud to be a carbon-negative business

Whilst our direct impact is low, it’s still our responsibility to eliminate our carbon emissions for the sake of protecting our planet. Our work with Ecologi funds renewable energy projects across the world and protects forests to help reduce the carbon in our atmosphere today, whilst also funding reforestation projects to limit climate catastrophe in the future. We’re also proud to plant a tree for every R&D tax claim we submit, but we’re determined to go further.

Charities of the year

This year, the team have chosen to support two brilliant charities: Ocean Generation and Mind. We will be working to raise awareness, change behaviours and raise money to support their life-changing work.

Previously known as Plastic Oceans, Ocean Generation is a global movement tackling ocean threats through science and storytelling. The ocean is a lifeline to all of us, responsible for over 70% of our oxygen and cannot continue being choked with plastic.

What are we doing?

  • Hosting regular litter picks and beach cleans to keep rubbish out of the ocean
  • Running virtual screenings of ‘A Plastic Ocean’ to educate the importance of the cause
  • Encouraging team members and clients to limit their reliance on single-use plastic and work to make the office a plastic-free space.
  • Working with clients and associations to address how they can limit the use of plastic within their industry

From anxiety about the climate crisis to the covid pandemic, mental health problems are rising rapidly. With one in four people experiencing a mental health problem each year, it’s something we take very seriously. Mind provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing poor mental health and are in need of vital funds to improve services and raise awareness.

What are we doing?

  • All managers will be trained as mental health first aiders to be a direct line of support to staff. In addition, whilst helping to spot signs of anyone dealing with a a mental health problem, this training will also help managers to know how to respond appropriately
  • Building a Wellness Action Plan to support staff when they aren’t feeling their best and help to reduce the stigma around mental health
  • Running regular (virtual) fitness sessions for everyone to join in – exercise is increasingly shown to help reduce stress
  • Raising funds through team sporting activities and challenges throughout the year
