Kene were always available via phone, email and in-person, with excellent knowledge of R&D legislation; they were not afraid to point out when potential pieces of work were not classed as R&D. The quality of the claim came first and not the claim/fee size.
Who was the client?
Ashe Group manage the design and construction of buildings for a range of public and private sector clients. Their diverse portfolio includes commercial & industrial, education, health & community, leisure & retail and residential buildings. Based in Hertfordshire, they specialise in schemes which require new construction, internal and external refurbishment, alterations and fit-outs; putting customer care at the centre of each project.
“Our aim is to construct environments that enhance the lives of the people who use them.”
R&D is essential to keep pace with the industry and enable advancements that maintain high standards of build quality and safety.
What was the challenge?
Ashe Group were looking for a R&D partner to thoroughly assess their cost base in detail and to a high standard to ensure a robust claim was submitted. We were pleased that our attentive approach to R&D claims resonated with Ashe Group, meaning we could help accurately showcase their investment in innovation and produce the high-quality claim they were seeking.
For our 2019 claim, we produced our own figures to ensure all R&D expenditure was accurately quantified. We were looking for a new R&D partner that was equally as thorough as we had been. We came across Kene and after numerous discussions, felt that we both had the same solid approach to how the claim should be constructed and submitted.
Identifying the R&D
Ashe Group work on a large variety of bespoke client projects, each of which needed to be carefully assessed for R&D. We conducted a technical workshop with key people across the business to identify eligible activities. This helped us to quantify a robust and maximised claim.
“Kene were always available via phone, email and in-person, with excellent knowledge of R&D legislation; they were not afraid to point out when potential pieces of work were not classed as R&D. The quality of the claim came first and not the claim/fee size.”
The result
With our help and a thorough analysis of each project within their portfolio, Ashe Group were able to identify 2.7% of their business expenditure as R&D. We look forward to working with Ashe Group on future claims and to see how they continue to push the boundaries of innovation.
We’re now looking for a long-term partnership with Kene, who have more than proven themselves as a reliable R&D partner.
