The entire claim process was swift and pain-free. When we read the technical report, it was clear that our work and engineering lingo made sense to the Kene team. Kene took a problem that seemed complex and time consuming to us and simplified it so that our technical and financial teams could collaborate and realise the rewards for our hard work and innovation.
Who was the client?
Collaborative Project Management Services (CPMS) specialise in simplifying complex engineering projects to enable collaboration between project stakeholders and improve the speed of project delivery.
What was the challenge?
CPMS deal with very complex engineering projects which require a huge amount of time and expertise to deliver successful outcomes for their clients. As a result, claiming for their R&D tax relief had often been an afterthought, making their in-house process very drawn out or forgotten.
The company’s tagline is ‘simplifying the complex’, and so they identified that they needed specialist assistance from a dedicated R&D tax advisory company who shared the same outlook and values towards their work.
Identifying the R&D
Kene made a site visit to CPMS’ office and educated the team on the R&D tax legislation and how to utilise this to identify qualifying R&D activity within the projects they worked on. The engineering expertise within Kene meant that they could have efficient and technically comprehensive discussions to identify and analyse qualifying projects.
In addition, sitting with CPMS’ financial team allowed Kene to extract the financial information required to support the claim.
A detailed technical report was produced to showcase CPMS’ innovations and justify the costs claimed. The technical document was written in-line with HMRC’s R&D tax legislation to clearly and accurately describe the developments CPMS had made, ensuring a robust claim.
The result
We were pleased to produce an outcome that exceeded CPMS’s expectations and fed vital cash back into the business.
